Lip Care
Although easy to overlook, the importance of lip care shouldn’t be underestimated. For many people moisturising the lips is only needed during dry or cold weather, for other it’s a daily habit to prevent chapped lips. Either way, boosting your lip’s moisture is essential to keeping them full, healthy, and feeling comfortable. Don’t skip on the balm, especially if you regularly wear lip colour products.
Why is it important to care for your lips?
Simply put, the skin on your lips is different than anywhere else. It’s thin, which is why your lips are pink-ish, and doesn’t have sebaceous glands like other areas, which means it can’t produce its own natural oil to moisturise and therefore chaps more easily. To prevent dry, chapped, or cracked lips that can become painful and lead to bleeding lips, use a lip conditioner or lip serum regularly.
Types of lip care products
In their simplest form, a lip balm should contain a moisturiser, like vitamin C, and one or two other ingredients keep that moisture locked in, like carnauba wax or beeswax. But of course, today’s beauty market has an ever-growing offering of balms that do much more than hydrate lips. Lip tints offer moisture protection along with a hint of added colour—a perfect option for the no-fuss gal you wants a little more than her natural colour, but isn’t into applying lipstick every day. On the other hand, lip exfoliators and lip scrubs are smart options for those who do wear lipstick daily and want a smoother canvas to apply it to. Whatever your lip colour practices, a lip mask is a good idea for everyone to pamper lips with an ultra-moisturising treatment every now and then.
Lip care formulas can be as simple or as loaded as you want them to be, depending on your lip therapy needs. Whether you want the most basic of balms or a do-it-all lip colour and treatment set, shop online at Sephora to uncover the best lip care products for your lips healthiest look.
